About Oak Academic Publishing
Oak Academic Publishing is an open-access publisher on a simple mission: make publishing genuinely affordable — with low article processing charges — without ever compromising independent peer review. Every article we publish is freely available to read, reuse, and build on.
What we stand for
Three principles guide everything we do as a publisher.
Affordable open access
Our article processing charges are a fraction of typical APCs. We keep costs low and transparent so that publishing openly is within reach for researchers everywhere.
Peer reviewed
Every submission is assessed by at least two independent experts. Low cost never means low standards — editorial quality control is at the heart of what we do.
Authors keep copyright
Articles are published under a CC BY 4.0 licence and authors retain copyright to their own work. Your research stays yours — freely shareable with proper attribution.
Our editorial process
Five stages from submission to publication, and quality control runs through every one of them. No manuscript is published until it has passed independent expert scrutiny.
Submit
You submit your manuscript, metadata, and declarations through our portal. There is no submission fee — nothing is charged at this stage.
Preliminary check
The editorial office screens the manuscript for scope, completeness, formatting, and research-integrity basics, including plagiarism screening, before assigning a handling editor.
Peer review (≥2 experts)
At least two independent subject experts evaluate the methodology, novelty, and soundness of the work, and the handling editor weighs their reports into a decision. Where revisions are required, authors respond point by point and reviewers re-assess. This is our core quality gate and it is never skipped, regardless of the low APC.
Acceptance & APC
On acceptance the journal's article processing charge is invoiced and the CC BY 4.0 copyright handover is signed. Reviewers and editors are never told an author's payment status.
Published open access
We copyedit and typeset the article, the authors approve the proofs, and a DOI is registered. It publishes under CC BY 4.0 with a permanent link — free for anyone in the world to read and reuse.

Open-access policy
All Oak Academic Publishing articles are open access from the moment of publication — no subscription, paywall, or embargo. Readers may access the full text and data at no charge, and there are no fees to read or download.

Every manuscript is assessed by at least two independent experts under single-anonymised review, overseen by a handling editor. Charges are raised only after acceptance, and reviewers are never told an author's payment status.

We follow the COPE Core Practices and ICMJE authorship criteria, covering authorship, competing interests, data integrity, plagiarism screening, and how allegations of misconduct are investigated.

Articles are published under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC BY 4.0) licence. Authors retain copyright; anyone may share and adapt the work for any purpose provided appropriate credit is given to the original authors and source.

When errors are identified after publication we issue corrections, expressions of concern, or retractions as appropriate, with a clear public notice linked to the original article. Articles are never silently altered or removed.

We want your work to be found. As a new publisher we are actively applying to the major abstracting and indexing databases; the list below will grow as applications are approved.
