This study presents a comparative analysis of employment barriers by migrant workers in Germany and Southeastern Nigeria, uncovering notable similarities despite differing geopolitical environments. In Germany, challenges frequently include language difficulties, issues with recognizing foreign qualifications, and experiences of discrimination. Conversely, in Southeastern Nigeria, migrants face obstacles related to conflict-induced displacement, limited educational and skill development opportunities, corruption, and ethnic biases. Employing a mixed-methods approach, this research integrates quantitative data, such as unemployment rates and wage disparities, with qualitative insights through interviews with both migrants and employers. This methodology allows for an in-depth exploration of the lived experiences of migrant workers and their perceived challenges in accessing the labor market. By examining these factors comparatively, the study seeks to highlight both shared and unique aspects of migrant integration, to inform policies that better support successful employment inclusion across diverse contexts.
