This study on the plant Diospyros mespiliformis (Ebenaceae) is part of a process to promote our natural substances. Ethnopharmacology reveals that the plant is used to combat various types of infections and mental illness. Biological activity studies conducted on the plant have confirmed some ethnopharmacological data, particularly its anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and antioxidant activities. The results of the studies reveal that the hydroalcoholic extract of the leaves had the best anti-inflammatory activity with an IC 50 value of 0.05281 mg/mL, followed by the extract produced from the bark of the trunk with an IC 50 = 0.07058 mg/mL, then the extract from the roots with an IC 50 value of 0.09429 mg/mL. For antibacterial activity, the ethanolic extract from the leaves showed the highest activity against all the strains on which it was tested. In terms of antioxidant activity, the hydroalcoholic extracts produced from the leaves and bark had the best activity with an IC 50 < 0.00001 mg/mL, followed by the extracts from the bark and then the roots. The study also showed that hydroalcoholic extracts from different parts of the plant have more powerful antioxidant activity than vitamin C.
