We present wavelet bases made of piecewise (low degree) polynomial functions with an (arbitrary) assigned number of vanishing moments. We study some of the properties of these wavelet bases; in particular we consider their use in the approximation of function…

When a statistical test of hypothesis for a population mean is performed, we are faced with the possibility of committing a Type II error by not rejecting the null hypothesis when in fact the population mean has changed. We consider this issue and quantify ma…
Alexey Stakhov, Samuil Aranson
This article refers to the “Mathematics of Harmony” by Alexey Stakhov in 2009, a new interdisciplinary direction of modern science. The main goal of the article is to describe two modern scientific discoveries–New Geometric Theory of Phyllotaxis (Bodnar’s Geo…

In this paper we propose a way to integrate data at different spatial scales using the ensemble Kalman filter (EnKF), such that the finest scale data is sequentially estimated, subject to the available data at the coarse scale (s), as an additional constraint…
Fawzy A. Abd El-Salam, Sobhy Abd El-Bar
In the present work the geodesic equation represents the equations of motion of the particles along the geodesics is derived. The deviation of the curved space-time metric tensor from that of the Minkowski tensor is considered as a perturbation. The quantitie…

This paper deals with the study of propagation of G type waves along the plane surface at the interface of two different types of media. The upper medium is taken as monoclinic magnetoelastic layer whereas the lower half-space is inhomogeneous isotropic. Disp…

Let be a polynomial of degree n having all its zeros in , then for each , , with , Aziz and Ahemad (1996) proved that In this paper, we extend the above inequality to the class of polynomials , having all its zeros in , and obtain a generalization as well as…
Manju Agarwal, Archana S. Bhadauria
In this paper, we have proposed and analyzed a nonlinear mathematical model for the study of interaction between tumor cells and oncolytic viruses. The model is analyzed using stability theory of differential equa- tions. Positive equilibrium points of the sy…

A refined finite-difference approach is presented to solve the thermoelastic problem of functionally graded cylinders. Material properties of the present cylinder are assumed to be graded in the radial direction according to a power-law distribution in terms…
Daoud Mashat, Manal Alotibi
An algorithm is provided for the fast and accurate computation of the solution of the Bitsadze equation in the complex plane in the interior of the unit disk. The algorithm is based on the representation of the solution in terms of a double integral as it sho…
