In our previous work, we established a predictive QSPR (Quantitative Structure-Property Relationship) model for the octanol/water partition coefficient based on ionization energy (IE), electronic energy (ET), and dipole moment (μ). This model has been shown t…

This study established a relationship between the octanol/water partition coefficient (LogP) and molecular descriptors from quantum chemistry using a QSPR approach. To this end, a QSPR model based on three molecular descriptors, namely ionization energy (IE),…

Solar energy is one of the best alternatives for combating climate change. Its development has led to the creation of dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). To improve the solar energy conversion efficiency of DSSCs, several organic compounds, including methylen…

A semiempirical molecular-orbital approach has been developed to calculate the atomization energies of 117 small molecules containing hydrogen, carbon, nitrogen, oxygen and fluorine. The molecules were mostly organic. Ten parameter sets were used to account f…

Five selected reactive dyes were used to perform theoretical calculations of photochemical reactivity indicators in electro-(SE) and nucleophilic reactions (SN). The study utilised reactive dyes in which the reactive group is cyanuric chloride, but which diff…

Methyl α-D-mannopyranoside derivatives were investigated to overcome the limited stability and weak receptor-binding affinity of native mannopyranosides. Previously synthesized derivatives were computationally evaluated for their stability, pharmacokinetic pr…

The environmental persistence and off-target toxicity of conventional synthetic pesticides continue to motivate the development of sustainable, biologically derived alternatives. Cyclotides—plant-derived, backbone-cyclized peptides stabilized by a cystine-kno…

Nuclear quantum effects (NQEs) are essential for accurately modeling systems involving light atoms, particularly hydrogen bonding and proton transfer processes. This study investigates the influence of NQEs on the structural, dynamical, and spectroscopic prop…

In this article, the optimized geometries of six possible tautomers of mesoxaldehyde 2,3-bis-phenyl hydrazone (MBPH) (1) have been studied in the gas phase by ab initio Hartree-Fock (HF) and density Functional theories DFT with different levels of theory, B3L…

A new Schiff-base 1,4-benzodioxane-6-carboxaldehyde thiosemicarbazone (B1) and its Zn(II), Cu(II) Ni(II) and Mn(II) complexes (ZnB1, CuB1, NiB1 and MnB1) were synthesized and characterized. The FT-IR, 1H-NMR and UV-Vis spectroscopy as well as elemental analys…

Computational Chemistry publishes original research in which computation is the primary instrument — electronic-structure theory, molecular simulation, cheminformatics, and machine learning applied to chemical problems. The journal covers both method development and application, and particularly welcomes work that makes its models, code, and datasets available for reuse. Every submission is assessed by at least two independent subject experts. All articles are open access under a CC BY 4.0 licence, with authors retaining copyright.
Authors submit their manuscript, metadata, and declarations through the portal. There is no submission fee.
The editorial office screens the manuscript for scope, completeness, and formatting before assigning a handling editor.
At least two independent reviewers evaluate the manuscript under single-blind review. Where revisions are required, authors respond point by point.
On acceptance the article processing charge is invoiced and the CC BY 4.0 copyright handover is signed.
The article is copyedited, typeset, and given a DOI, then publishes open access with a permanent link.
Manuscripts are submitted through the Oak submission portal by one of the authors. Submissions made on an author's behalf by a third party are not accepted.
There is no submission fee. An article processing charge falls due only if your manuscript is accepted.
Computational Chemistry considers the following. Page counts are guides, not hard limits — a well-argued paper that runs longer will not be rejected on length alone.
Manuscripts must be written in English, be original, and not be under consideration elsewhere.
Order the manuscript: title, authors, affiliations, abstract, and keywords on a title page, followed by the introduction, the body of the paper, the reference list, and any appendices.
Everything a reader has to read must be legible at print size, and everything an editor has to typeset must be editable.
Oak journals use a numbered (Vancouver) style. Cite sources in square brackets in the order they first appear in the text, and list them in that same order under REFERENCES.
Every reference must be complete enough for a reader to retrieve the source. Include a DOI where one exists.
Manuscripts that do not follow these guidelines are returned to the author without scientific evaluation. Those that do are read by the Editor-in-Chief or a handling editor, who assigns them to reviewers.
At least two independent experts assess every manuscript that goes to review. Review is single-blind: reviewers see who the authors are, authors do not see who the reviewers are.
The handling editor weighs the reports into a decision and writes to the corresponding author. Where revision is invited, respond to each point in turn and mark the changes in the manuscript.
Across Oak journals the median time to first decision is 18 days, and the median time from acceptance to publication is 20 days.
Computational Chemistry charges an article processing charge of $399, payable only on acceptance. There is no submission fee, and nothing is charged for a manuscript that is rejected.
The charge covers review administration, editing, typesetting, hosting, and permanent open access. Reviewers and handling editors are never told an author's payment status.
Authors retain copyright in their work. Oak never takes ownership of it.
Every article is published open access under the Creative Commons Attribution licence (CC BY 4.0). Anyone may copy, redistribute, adapt, and build on the work, including commercially, provided the original is properly attributed.
Descriptive names, trade names, and trademarks used in an article are not implied to be unprotected by the relevant laws merely because they appear without acknowledgement.
Oak follows the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidance on suspected misconduct, and treats breaches seriously regardless of who reports them or how far through publication the work has travelled.
A calculation that cannot be repeated is not a result. Report the method in enough detail that a competent reader with the same software could reproduce your numbers.
