The sandwich structure is of great interest because of its advantage of combining light weight and high flexural stiffness. Many previous researchers have studied the failure modes in sandwich structures and the effects on the load capacity caused by the chan…

In this study, we research about comb-drive micro-structure, which is a MEMS device used to measure velocities and accelerations. To ensure the accuracy and visualization of the result, we simulate the dynamics of the comb drive using COMSOL Multiphysics, mea…

The aim of this paper is to demonstrate the mechanical behaviour of a filament-wound composite tube subjected to uniaxial tension by finite element analysis. Uniaxial tensile test experiments have been carried out on standard specimen and hose piece in order…
David Webb, Wissam Alobaidi, Eric Sandgren
Structural designs ( i.e. truss structures) are derived by the use of a three phase genetic optimization approach, where the minimization of volume is the objective of each truss structure considered. A genetic algorithm is employed which controls the three p…

In this paper, laminar forced convection of CuO nanofluid is numerically investigated in sudden expansion microchannel with isotherm walls and different expansion ratios (ER). An Eulerian two-fluid model is considered to simulate the nanofluid flow inside the…

Optimisation of effective design parameters to reduce tooth bending stress for an automotive transmission gearbox is presented. A systematic investigation of effective design parameters for optimum design of a five-speed gearbox is studied. For this aim conta…

In this work, the influence of internal combustion engine parameters (cylinder-piston clearance, piston head height, the first segment position, gap of the first piston ring and gap of the second piston ring, piston rings’ axial clearance, intake valve debit…
Edwin Knobbe, Dirk Roekaerts
This contribution presents an outline of a new mathematical formulation for Classical Non-Equilibrium Thermodynamics (CNET) based on a contact structure in differential geometry. First a non-equilibrium state space is introduced as the third key element besid…

The problem about identification of elastic bending deformation of a drill string in a curve wells based on the theory of flexible curved rods and the direct inverse problems of drill string bending in the channels of curvilinear bore-holes is stated. The pro…

A statistical theory of disperse damage of materials gained under loading is proposed. It is based on the idea of distribution of potential damage spots within a specimen similar to the distribution of the strength values found by testing a set of identical s…

Authors submit their manuscript, metadata, and declarations through the portal. There is no submission fee.
The editorial office screens the manuscript for scope, completeness, and formatting before assigning a handling editor.
At least two independent reviewers evaluate the manuscript under single-blind review. Where revisions are required, authors respond point by point.
On acceptance the article processing charge is invoiced and the CC BY 4.0 copyright handover is signed.
The article is copyedited, typeset, and given a DOI, then publishes open access with a permanent link.
Manuscripts must be original and not under consideration elsewhere. Submit in Microsoft Word or LaTeX with figures at 300 dpi minimum. Structure research articles as Abstract, Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, and References.
Use the journal's numbered (Vancouver) reference style. Cite sources consecutively in the order they appear, and ensure every reference is complete and retrievable.
