The hemagglutinin (HA) of influenza viruses in itiates virus infection by binding receptors on host cells. Human influenza viruses preferenti ally bind to receptors with α2,6 linkages to gala ctose, avian viruses prefer receptors with α2,3 linkages to galacto…

In living cells, proteins are dynamically connec ted through biochemical reactions, so its functi onal features are properly encoded into protein protein interaction networks (PINs). Up to pres ent, many efforts have been devoted to exploring the basic featur…

A short 220 bp sequence was used to study the taxonomic organization of the bacterial Order Bacillales. The nucleotide sequences of the 3’ end of the 16S rDNA and the 16S-23S Internal transcribed spacer (ITS) were determined for 32 Bacillales species and stra…

Recent discoveries show steady improvements in life expectancy during modern decades. Does this support that humans continue to live longer in future? We recently put forward the maximum survival tendency, as found in survival curves of industrialized countri…

To help swimmers improve, we have developed a computational swimming model using underwater manipulator dynamics. We formulate the equations of the underwater manipulator dynamics using the fluid drag, which is proportional to the square of the velocity. We c…

A new continuum theory of the constitutive equation of co-rotational derivative type is developed for anisotropic viscoelastic fluid—liquid crystalline (LC) polymers. A new concept of simple anisotropic fluid is introduced. On the basis of principles of aniso…

From the equations of motion for baryons in the scalar strong interaction hadron theory (SSI), two coupled third order radial wave equations for baryon doublets have been derived and published in 1994. These equations are solved numerically here, using quark…
