The Role of Engineers in Implementing Water-Efficient Technologies in Sustainable Building Projects

Abstract
This paper traces the importance of engineers in the application of water-efficient technologies in sustainable buildings. With the rising number of global voices regarding the issue of water scarcity and the environmental effects of construction, the necessity of the sustainable management of water in buildings has also arisen. The study of the dissertation focuses on the roles and duties of engineers in terms of adopting and adapting advancements like greywater systems, rainwater collection, and low-flow fixtures. Qualitative type of research was used, together with semi-structured interviews of accomplished engineers in the building industry. The evidence suggests that engineers play an important role as facilitators in the making of suitable selections, designing, and implementing of water-efficient solutions, but encounter obstacles such as resistance by clients, price limits, and regulation requirements. Suggestions are an improvement of training, policy changes, and promotion of collaboration across disciplines. The study provides important information about the engineering techniques in green management and indicates ways of efficiency in conserving resources in the construction sector.
