The goal of this journal is to provide a platform for scientists and academicians all over the world to promote, share, and discuss various new issues and developments in different areas of c…
Babacar Diouf, Mariama Ba, Bator Cisse, Ahmadou Fall
This paper evaluates basalt aggregates from the Diack quarry and develops two concrete mixes for bridge construction in an XS1 saline environment. The study applies the Dreux-Gorisse and Féret-Bolomey mix design methods to a conventional C35/45 concrete and a…
Emmanuel Mwambu Wafula, James Wambua, Fundi Sanewu
The growing environmental issues of cement production, the exhaustion of natural aggregates, and the dumping of plastic waste have led to the necessity of providing the construction industry with sustainable alternatives. Despite the previous studies that hav…
Eleanor Chepchirchir Kimayo, Brian Odero, Tulatia Mungathia
Expansive clay soils present major geotechnical challenges because of their excessive swell-shrink behavior, which leads to pavement heaving, differential settlement, cracking of foundations, and deterioration of transportation infrastructure. Cement kiln dus…
Nkibeu Jean Bertin, Youssoufa Seydou, Penka Jules Bertrand, Moussa Sali, Madja Doumbaye Jerémie
This work focuses on comparing the seismic response spectrum of El Centro obtained under two different assumptions about the nature (linear variation and constant mean) of the ground acceleration over a time increment. This research proposes a quasi-analytica…
Thierno Mouhamadou Samassa Ly, Alassane Wade
Industrial pipe rack structures support piping systems carrying hazardous fluids at multiple elevations. In current seismic design practice, pipe mass is typically idealised as uniformly distributed across all levels, yet the actual distribution varies consid…
Clarice Jepkemoi Kimwei, Simpson Osano, Francis Gichaga
Road markings are a vital, low-cost road safety intervention, yet their real-world performance in Kenya’s tropical environment remains poorly understood. This study evaluates thermoplastic road markings across nine sites with varying environmental, traffic, a…
Thierno Mouhamadou Samassa Ly, Alassane Wade
This paper presents a systematic parametric comparison of two beam-based modeling approaches for 90˚ long-radius pipe elbows—the ASME B31.3 flexibility factor method and the Equivalent Straight Elbow (ESE) method—against shell element analysis. Twelve geometr…
Abdelrahman Ali, Erjun Wu, Muhammad Hamza Zahoor
The use of concrete sandwich panels consisting of two concrete wythes separated by an insulating core and connected by mechanical connectors has become a popular choice for modern building envelopes due to their high structural and thermal efficiency. The mec…
