In this article we propose a new model for scheduling periodic tasks. The model is based on a variation of the circular chromatic number, called the multiple circular colouring of the conflict graph. We show that for a large class of graphs, this new model wi…

We consider the solution of matching problems with a convex cost function via a network flow algorithm. We review the general mapping between matching problems and flow problems on skew symmetric networks and revisit several results on optimality of network f…

Using geometric techniques, formulas for the number of squares that require k moves in order to be reached by a sole knight from its initial position on an infinite chessboard are derived. The number of squares reachable in exactly k moves are 1, 8, 32, 68, a…

In [1], Hamzeh, Iranmanesh and Hossein-Zadeh and M. V. Diudea recently introduced the generalized degree distance of graphs. In this paper , we present explicit formulas for this new graph invariant of the Cartesian product, composition, join, disjunction and…

In the present work , the class of metrics connected with subsets of the linear space on the field, GF(2), is considered and a number of facts are established, which allow us to express the correcting capacity of codes for the additive channel in terms of thi…

In this paper, we extend the definition of Boolean canalyzing functions to the canalyzing functions of multi-state case. Namely, f:Q n → Q , where Q={a 1 ,a 2 ,...,a q } . We obtain its cardinality and the cardinalities of its various subsets (They may not be…

Let C be a plane convex body. For arbitrary points , a,b ∈E n denote by │ ab │ the Euclidean length of the line-segment ab. Let a 1 b 1 be a longest chord of C parallel to the line-segment ab . The relative distance d c (a,b) between the points a and b is the…

This paper considers the problem of robust passive control for uncertain discrete systems with time-varying delays. We pay attention to design ing a state feedback controller which guarantees the passivity of the closed-loop system for all admissible uncertai…

Many problems of discrete optimization are connected with partition of the n -dimensional space into certain subsets, and the requirements needed for these subsets can be geometrical — for instance, their sphericity — or they can be con nected with certain me…

A partial order or poset P=(X, <) on a (finite) base set X determines the set L(P) of linear extensions of P. The problem of computing, for a poset P, the cardinality of L(P) is #P-complete. A set {P 1 ,P 2 , ... ,P k } of posets on X covers the set of linear…

Authors submit their manuscript, metadata, and declarations through the portal. There is no submission fee.
The editorial office screens the manuscript for scope, completeness, and formatting before assigning a handling editor.
At least two independent reviewers evaluate the manuscript under single-blind review. Where revisions are required, authors respond point by point.
On acceptance the article processing charge is invoiced and the CC BY 4.0 copyright handover is signed.
The article is copyedited, typeset, and given a DOI, then publishes open access with a permanent link.
