Temporal activity patterns in animals emerge from complex interactions between choices made by organisms as responses to biotic interactions and challenges posed by external factors. Temporal activity pattern is an inherently continuous process, even being re…

Stock index forecast is regarded as a challenging task of financial time-series prediction. In this paper, the non-linear support vector regression (SVR) method was optimized for the application in stock index prediction. The parameters (C, σ) of SVR models w…

In this paper, we got the best linear unbiased predictor of any linear function of the elements of a finite population under coordinate-free models. The optimal predictor of these quantities was obtained in an earlier work considering models with a known diag…

The clustering on categorical variables has received intensive attention. In dataset with categorical features, some features show the superior performance on clustering procedure. In this paper, we propose a simple method to find such distinctive features by…

The conventional form of statistical simulation proceeds by selecting a few models and generating hundreds or thousands of data sets from each model. This article investigates a different approach, called BayesSim, that generates hundreds or thousands of mode…

There exist many iterative methods for computing the maximum likelihood estimator but most of them suffer from one or several drawbacks such as the need to inverse a Hessian matrix and the need to find good initial approximations of the parameters that are un…

Three methods are considered in this paper: Simple exponential smoothing (SES), Holt-Winters exponential smoothing (HWES) and autoregressive integrated moving average (ARIMA). The best fit model was then used to forecast Zambia’s annual net foreign direct inv…

In the paper, the data of the narrow money supply of China from January 2005 to March 2016 as sample, model is established by using Eviews6.0. Upon inspection, the model has good fitting effect (MAPE = 1.09) and high prediction accuracy. According to the resu…

Given a sample of regression data from ( Y, Z ), a new diagnostic plotting method is proposed for checking the hypothesis H 0 : the data are from a given Cox model with the time-dependent covariates Z . It compares two estimates of the marginal distribution F…

We have proposed a new generalized Weibull-exponential frailty model which is a general case of classical frailty model suggested by [1] and [2]. In classical frailty model, modeling of hazard rate is considered whereas, in this paper, direct modeling of cond…
