Zero-inflated distributions are common in statistical problems where there is interest in testing homogeneity of two or more independent groups. Often, the underlying distribution that has an inflated number of zero-valued observations is asymmetric, and its…

In this paper, the weighted Kolmogrov-Smirnov, Cramer von-Miss and the Anderson Darling test statistics are considered as goodness of fit tests for the generalized Rayleigh interval grouped data. An extensive simulation process is conducted to evaluate their…

A robust method is proposed for estimating discrete probability functions for small samples. The proposed approach introduces and minimizes a parameterized objective function that is analogous to free energy functions in statistical physics. A key feature of…

This paper implements the method of estimating functions (EF) in the modelling and forecasting of financial returns volatility. This estimation approach incorporates higher order moments which are common in most financial time series, into modelling, leading…

Estimation of the unknown mean, μ and variance, σ 2 of a univariate Gaussian distribution given a single study variable x is considered. We propose an approach that does not require initialization of the sufficient unknown distribution parameters. The approac…

This article attempts to develop a simultaneous optimization procedure of several response variables from incomplete multi-response experiments. In incomplete multi-response experiments all the responses ( p ) are not recorded from all the experimental units…

Research on Positive Youth Development (PYD) has been hampered by lack of a valid measure for the construct, particularly for research in sport. The Youth Experiences Scale for Sport (YES-S) [1], is a five-factor measure of positive youth outcomes specificall…

In large sample studies where distributions may be skewed and not readily transformed to symmetry, it may be of greater interest to compare different distributions in terms of percentiles rather than means. For example, it may be more informative to compare t…

The paper introduces a new biased estimator namely Generalized Optimal Estimator (GOE) in a multiple linear regression when there exists multicollinearity among predictor variables. Stochastic properties of proposed estimator were derived, and the proposed es…
