This study explores the least square support vector and wavelet technique (WLSSVM) in the monthly stream flow fore casting. This is a new hybrid technique. The 30 day s periodic predicting statistics used in this study are derived from the subjection of this…

In this paper, regression function estimation from independent and identically distributed data is considered. We es tablish strong pointwise consistency of the famous Nadaraya-Watson estimator under weaker conditions which permit to apply kernels with unboun…

The analysis of survival data is a major focus of statistics. Interval censored data reflect uncertainty as to the exact times the units failed within an interval. This type of data frequently comes from tests or situations where the objects of inter est are…

In this paper, we consider the dual risk model in which periodic taxation are paid according to a loss-carry-forward sys tem and dividends are paid under a threshold strategy. We give an analytical approach to derive the expression of g δ ( u ) ( i.e . the La…

The generalized order statistics which introduced by [1] are studied in the present paper. The Gompertz distribution is widely used to describe the distribution of adult deaths, and some related models used in the economic applications [2]. Previous works con…

The stationarity hypothesis is essential in hydrological frequency analysis and statistical inference. This assumption is often not fulfilled for large observed datasets, especially in the case of hydro-climatic variables. The Generalized Ex treme Value distr…

Computations involved in Bayesian approach to practical model selection problems are usually very difficult. Computa tional simplifications are sometimes possible, but are not generally applicable. There is a large literature available on a methodology based…
Hans C. van Houwelingen, Willi Sauerbrei
In deriving a regression model analysts often have to use variable selection, despite of problems introduced by data- dependent model building. Resampling approaches are proposed to handle some of the critical issues. In order to assess and compare several st…
