The World Journal of Mechanics (WJM) will cover the general field of mechanics including the mechanics of solids, structures and fluids and their interaction. The goal of this journal is to provide an international forum for the publication and dissemination of original work which contributes to the understanding of t…

This paper presents a comprehensive stability analysis of the dynamics of the damped cubic-quintic Duffing oscillator. We employ the derivative expansion method to investigate the slightly damped cubic-quintic Duffing oscillator obtaining a uniformly valid so…

Analytical, numerical, and experimental modeling methods are presented to predict deformation after the cure process of thin unsymmetric laminates for piezoelectric actuation. During fabrication, laminates deform to several post-cure room temperature shapes.…
Francesco Tornabene, Alessandro Ceruti
This work presents the static and dynamic analyses of laminated doubly-curved shells and panels of revolution resting on Winkler-Pasternak elastic foundations using the Generalized Differential Quadrature (GDQ) method. The analyses are worked out considering…
Junfeng Zhao, Song Yu
The effects of residual stress on the hydro-elastic vibration of circular diaphragm are theoretically investigated by using the added mass approach. The Kirchhoff theory of plates is used to model the elastic thin circular diaphragm on an aperture of an infin…
Jianfeng Ma, X. J. Xin
In this paper, the meshless integral method based on the regularized boundary integral equation [1] has been extended to analyze the large deformation of elastoplastic materials. The updated Lagrangian governing integral equation is obtained from the weak for…

In this study, the multistep method is applied to the STF system. This method has been tested on the STF system, which is a three-dimensional system of ODE with quadratic nonlinearities. A computer based Matlab program has been developed in order to solve the…

Vibration failure of piping is a serious problem and a matter of concern for safety and reliability of plant operations. Fatigue is the main cause of such failures. Due to the complexity of the phenomenon no closed form design solutions are available. In our…
Wolfgang Witteveen
Vibration mode based model reduction methods like Component Mode Synthesis (CMS) will be compared to methods coming from control engineering, namely moment matching (MM) and balanced truncation (BT). Conclusions based on the theory together with a numerical d…
Nuttawit Wattanasakulpong, Variddhi Ungbhakorn
The differential transformation method (DTM) is applied to investigate free vibration of functionally graded beams supported by arbitrary boundary conditions, including various types of elastically end constraints. The material properties of functionally grad…
Guoping Yang, Yubao Chen, Bo Chen
The structure and operational principle on a new type reversing valve of hydraulic breaker are introduced. The nonlinear mathematic model and simulation model of the new type reversing valve are built. The dynamic simulation research of the new type reversing…

The goal of this journal is to provide an international forum for the publication and dissemination of original work which contributes to the understanding of t… All articles are open access under a CC BY 4.0 licence, with authors retaining copyright.
Authors submit their manuscript, metadata, and declarations through the portal. There is no submission fee.
The editorial office screens the manuscript for scope, completeness, and formatting before assigning a handling editor.
At least two independent reviewers evaluate the manuscript under single-blind review. Where revisions are required, authors respond point by point.
On acceptance the article processing charge is invoiced and the CC BY 4.0 copyright handover is signed.
The article is copyedited, typeset, and given a DOI, then publishes open access with a permanent link.
Manuscripts must be original and not under consideration elsewhere. Submit in Microsoft Word or LaTeX with figures at 300 dpi minimum. Structure research articles as Abstract, Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, and References.
Use the journal's numbered (Vancouver) reference style. Cite sources consecutively in the order they appear, and ensure every reference is complete and retrievable.
Declare all funding sources, conflicts of interest, and ethical approvals (including informed consent and animal-care statements where applicable).
