American Journal of Operations Research (AJOR) is an international scientific journal dedicated to the publication and public discussion of high quality, original papers that contribute to the methodology of operational research and to the practice of decision making. AJOR contains the following types of papers: (1)In…
Kavita Gupta, Shri Ram Arora
In this paper, a transportation problem with an objective function as the sum of a linear and fractional function is con sidered. The linear function represents the total transportation cost incurred when the goods are shipped from various sources to the dest…

We study a two stage queuing model where the server provides two stages of service one by one in succession. We consider reneging to occur when the server is unavailable during the system breakdown or vacation periods. We concentrate on deriving the steady st…

Selection of best alternative among multiple alternatives is a tough task for decision makers in many industrial situa tions. This paper explores the applicability and capability of an outranking method known as Evaluation of Mixed Data (EVAMIX) method combin…

In classical convex optimization theory, the Karush-Kuhn-Tucker (KKT) optimality conditions are necessary and suffi cient for optimality if the objective as well as the constraint functions involved is convex. Recently, Lassere [1] con sidered a scalar progra…

One of the most important responsibilities of a supply chain manager is to decide “how much” (or “many”) of inventory items to order and how to transport them. This paper presents four mixed-integer linear programming models to help supply chain managers make…
Edilson F. Arruda, Fabrício Ourique
This paper proposes a technique to accelerate the convergence of the value iteration algorithm applied to discrete aver age cost Markov decision processes. An adaptive partial information value iteration algorithm is proposed that updates an increasingly accu…

The goal of screening tests for breast cancer is early detection and treatment with a consequent reduction in mortality caused by the disease. Screening tests, however, might produce misleading diagnoses and potentially significant emo tional, financial and h…
Nikolaos Ploskas, Nikolaos Samaras
The computation of the basis inverse is the most time-consuming step in simplex type algorithms. This inverse does not have to be computed from scratch at any iteration, but updating schemes can be applied to accelerate this calculation. In this paper, we per…

Convergence problem of an economic variable represents an underlying forecast of neoclassical economic growth model. This paper aims to analyze the convergence of provincial per capita GDP stability in Vietnam over the period of 1991-2007. This can be done by…

We develop a multi-period dynamic model in which managers decide in each period how much to invest in improving process reliability. The optimal investment decision will minimize the firm’s total costs, which are comprised of its pre ventive costs and failure…

Authors submit their manuscript, metadata, and declarations through the portal. There is no submission fee.
The editorial office screens the manuscript for scope, completeness, and formatting before assigning a handling editor.
At least two independent reviewers evaluate the manuscript under single-blind review. Where revisions are required, authors respond point by point.

The article is copyedited, typeset, and given a DOI, then publishes open access with a permanent link.
Manuscripts must be original and not under consideration elsewhere. Submit in Microsoft Word or LaTeX with figures at 300 dpi minimum. Structure research articles as Abstract, Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, and References.
Use the journal's numbered (Vancouver) reference style. Cite sources consecutively in the order they appear, and ensure every reference is complete and retrievable.
