Applied Mathematics (AM) is an international journal dedicated to the latest advancements in applied mathematics. The goal of this journal is to provide a platform for scientists and academicians all over the world to promote, share, and discuss various new issues and developments in different areas of applied mathema…
Saeed Mohammadali Farahani, Tofig Isa Najafov
A double system of exponents with piecewise continuous complex-valued coefficients are considered. Under definite conditions on the coefficients the frame property of this system in Lebesgue spaces of functions is investigated. Such systems arise in the spect…
Seonhee Kim, Amik St-Cyr, Sang Dong Kim
Finite difference type preconditioners for spectral element discretizations based on Legendre-Gauss-Lobatto points are analyzed. The latter is employed for the approximation of uniformly elliptic partial differential problems. In this work, it is shown that t…
Tiwari Ram Chandra, Bhandary Netra Prakash, Yatabe Ryuichi
High-order finite element method (FEM) formulation also referred to as spectral element method (SEM) formulation is currently implemented in this paper for 3-dimensional (3-D) elasto-plastic problems in stability assessment of large- scale slopes (vegetated a…
Sunil Bhat, Vijay G. Ukadgaonker
The paper presents finite element modeling of crack tip blunting for numerical estimation of fracture parameter of a Mode I crack, in weak alloy steel, which is near and normal to the interface of elastically identical but stronger maraging steel. The bimetal…

In this paper, we study the behavior of the symmetrical system of rational difference equation: where A > o and x i , y i ∈(0, ∞), for i = - k ,- k +1,…,0.
Sigey K. Johana, Okelo A. Jeconia, Gatheri K. Francis, Ngesa O. Joel
This work addresses the problem of Magnetohydrodynamic laminar unsteady flow of an incompressible electrically conducting fluid past an infinite vertical porous plate. It investigates how joule heating affects the velocity and temperature profiles of the flui…

In this paper, a class of slightly perturbed equations of the form F ( x )= ξ - x + αΦ (x) will be treated graphically and symbolically, where Φ (x) is an analytic function of x . For graphical developments, we set up a simple graphical method for the real ro…
Peter Trebuňa, Jana Halčinová
The paper deals with cluster analysis and comparison of clustering methods. Cluster analysis belongs to multivariate statistical methods. Cluster analysis is defined as general logical technique, procedure, which allows clustering varia ble objects into group…
Ahmed Ahmed El-Sawy, Zeinab Mohamed Hendawy, Mohamed A. El-Shorbagy
A reference point based multi-objective optimization using a combination between trust region (TR) algorithm and par ticle swarm optimization (PSO) to solve the multi-objective environmental/economic dispatch (EED) problem is pre sented in this paper. The EED…
Vassilis Geroyannis, Florendia Valvi
A code developed recently by the authors, for counting and computing the eigenvalues of a complex tridiagonal matrix, as well as the roots of a complex polynomial, which lie in a given region of the complex plane, is modified to run in parallel on multi-core…
