Response surface methodology was used to investigate the effect of brine concentration (10% - 20%) solution temperature (35℃ - 55℃), and duration of osmosis (30 - 60 min) with respect to water loss (WL) and salt gain (SG). The solu- tion to sample ratio of 5/…

This paper presents an enhanced Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm applied to the reactive power compensation (RPC) problem. It is based on the combination of Genetic Algorithm (GA) and PSO. Our approach integrates the merits of both genetic algorith…

Electromagnetism-like (EML) algorithm is a new evolutionary algorithm that bases on the electromagnetic attraction and repulsion among particles. It was originally proposed to solve optimization problems with bounded variables. Since its inception, many varia…

The paper illustrates an innovative procedure for experimental design in mixture analysis. It relies on D-optimal designs performed on the combinatorial explosion of five levels of components composition, keeping in mind the requirements of Central Composite…

Bilevel programming problems are a class of optimization problems with hierarchical structure where one of the con-straints is also an optimization problem. Inexact restoration methods were introduced for solving nonlinear programming problems a few years ago…
Masatoshi Sakawa, Takeshi Matsui
This paper considers multiobjective integer programming problems involving random variables in constraints. Using the concept of simple recourse, the formulated multiobjective stochastic simple recourse problems are transformed into deterministic ones. For so…

Public sector decision-making typically involves complex problems that are riddled with competing performance objecttives and possess design requirements which are difficult to capture at the time that supporting decision models are constructed. Environmental…

Genetic algorithms have been extensively used as a global optimization tool. These algorithms, however, suffer from their generally slow convergence rates. This paper proposes two approaches to address this limitation. First, a new crossover technique, the we…

In this study, we introduce a numerical method to reduce the solute transport equation into a reduced form that can replicate the behavior of the model described by the original equation. The basic idea is to collect an ensemble of data of state variables (sa…

Authors submit their manuscript, metadata, and declarations through the portal. There is no submission fee.
The editorial office screens the manuscript for scope, completeness, and formatting before assigning a handling editor.
At least two independent reviewers evaluate the manuscript under single-blind review. Where revisions are required, authors respond point by point.
On acceptance the article processing charge is invoiced and the CC BY 4.0 copyright handover is signed.
The article is copyedited, typeset, and given a DOI, then publishes open access with a permanent link.
Manuscripts must be original and not under consideration elsewhere. Submit in Microsoft Word or LaTeX with figures at 300 dpi minimum. Structure research articles as Abstract, Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, and References.
Use the journal's numbered (Vancouver) reference style. Cite sources consecutively in the order they appear, and ensure every reference is complete and retrievable.
