Ethyl 2,3-diphthalimidoylpropanoate was effectively synthesized from ethyl propynoate with two equivalents of phthalimide catalyzed by triphenylphosphine in good yield. The choice of reaction media was important for selective synthesis of the desired 2,3-diam…
Pascal Binda, Leslie Glover
Three new chiral monoanionic [ON] ancillary phenolate ligands with varying pendant arms have been synthesized in moderate to high yields (50% - 85%) via Mannich-type condensation reaction of chiral substituted phenol, formaldehyde and (+)-bis-[(<i>R</i>)-1-ph…
Khalid Hussain, Deepak Wadhwa
A mild, general, convenient, and efficient one-pot synthesis of 4-arylpyridines (4) is described using conventional heating, ultrasound and microwave irradiation. Aryl aldehydes (2) were efficiently condensed with ethylacetoacetate (1) and ammonium acetate in…
Tomoko Mineno, Yu Takebe, Chiaki Tanaka, Sho Mashimo
The efficient dehydrosulfurization of thioamides to nitriles was carried out using indium(III) triflate as a catalyst. Based on the results of the initial study, the optimal reaction conditions required 5 mol% of indium(III) triflate with toluene as the pract…
Abeer N. Al-Romaizan, Mohammed S. T. Makki, Reda M. Abdel-Rahman
New fluorine substituted 6-(5’-fluoro-2’-triphenylphosphiniminophenyl) 3-thioxo-1,2,4-triazin-5 (2H, 4H) one (2) was obtained via Wittig’s reaction of the corresponding 6-(5’-fluoro-2’-amino-phenyl)-3-thioxo-1,2,4-triazinone (1). Behavior of compound 2 toward…
Abdulrahman S. Al-Harbi, Reda M. Abdel-Rahman, Abdullah M. Asiri
In search for new potential inhibitors some new fluorine substituted thiobarbituric acid derivatives (2-4, 7, 8) and their fused/isolated heterobicyclic nitrogen systems (5, 6, 9, 10, 11, 12) have been synthesized from heterocyclization of fluorinated 1,3-dik…
Asiyeh Shamsaddini, Enayatollah Sheikhhosseini
A series of 3,3-arylidene bis(4-hydroxycoumarins) were synthesized by the reaction of aromatic aldehydes with 4-hydroxycoumarin using dodecylbenzenesulfonic acid as Br?nsted acid-surfactant catalyst in aqueous media and under microwave irradiation. The presen…
Pulimamidi Rabindra Reddy, Ravula Chandrashekar, Hussain Shaik, Battu Satyanarayana
In view of the importance of picolinic acid (Pa) in preventing cell growth and arresting cell cycle, attempts were made to design, synthesize and characterize two new Pa based tetradentate ligands (DPPTR and DPPTY) with a modified procedure. The procedure rep…
Abdulhamid Alsaygh, Jehan Al-Humaidi, Ibrahim Al-Najjar
A series of new Schiff bases derived from 2-aminopyridenes and various aromatic aldehydes have been synthesized and thoroughly investigated by 1 H and 13 C NMR spectroscopy. The imines were found to exist as only a single E-isomer at ambient temperature. Inte…
Rammohan Pal, Taradas Sarkar
Aqueous starfruit juice catalyzed a simple and efficient Knoevenagel condensation of aromatic aldehydes with malononitrile has been developed under visible light. Products were obtained in yields up to 98% after short reaction times and they were isolated by…
