Vaccines, immune-based therapies and antimicrobials followed from immunological mechanism through to clinical evidence.

In 1974, in Nature, we hypothesized that removal of cytokines can be effective in the treatment of certain inflammatory diseases, e.g., rheumatoid arthritis (RA). We call this approach anticytokino-therapy. Later it was shown that neutralization of pro-inflam…

In order to assess chicken T cell-mediated responses after immune stress, 200 two-week-old chickens were randomly divided into control group(C) and treatment groups (T1 and T2). The live I-type of Newcastle disease vaccine (ND) was taken as the source of immu…

Background and Aims: In Ivoirian’s school, the management of vaso-occlusive painful crisis in sickle cell disease requires non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Although their effectiveness, these drugs may be accompanied by intolerance reactions. W…

The human 60 kDa and microbial 65 kDa heat shock proteins (HSP) have been implicated in the pathogenesis of chronic periodontitis (CP) and coronary heart disease (CHD). We have studied 100 subjects: Group (a) consisted of patients with gingivitis (n = 25), gr…

A large 7-year vaccination trial was conducted in 15 flocks of goats and 7 flocks of sheep, known to be infected with Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis (MAP), in Northern Greece. A total of 3665 kids and 1685 lambs, 7 - 30 days old, were vaccinated…

The existence of receptor-mediated endocytosis (RME) means that selectivity and selectivity occurs in capturing macromolecules. Protein kinase C (PKC) which can be expressed by almost all cells are proteins important in signal transduction groove that plays a…

Eighty male albino rats of Westar strain (350 ± 10 g), 10 to 12 weeks old were divided into four groups. The groups treated are as following. The first control group (Gp. I) was given intraperitoneally in normal saline (1 mL). The second group (Gp. II) was or…

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is associated with an HLA-DRB1-coded sequence motif called “shared epitope” (SE). To explore potential mechanisms of RA susceptibility, we analyze in vitro effect of peptides bearing different HLA-DR4 sequences on human peripheral bl…

Allergic manifestations affect 20% - 30% of the population in industrialized countries. The global market for asthma and allergy medications has been estimated to exceed USD 6 billion, since 40% of the human population has some form of IgE sensitization to di…

Despite extensive research efforts, a preventive human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) vaccine remains one of the major challenges in the field of AIDS research. Experimental strategies which have been proven successful for other viral vaccines are not enough to…

The Journal of Immune Based Therapies, Vaccines and Antimicrobials covers the discovery, development, and clinical application of vaccines, immune-based therapies, and antimicrobial agents. It spans infectious disease, oncology, transplantation, allergy, and autoimmunity, and welcomes work on mechanism, formulation and delivery, and regulatory and clinical development. Every submission is assessed by at least two independent experts. All articles are open access under a CC BY 4.0 licence, with authors retaining copyright.
Authors submit their manuscript, metadata, and declarations through the portal. There is no submission fee.
The editorial office screens the manuscript for scope, completeness, and formatting before assigning a handling editor.
At least two independent reviewers evaluate the manuscript under single-blind review. Where revisions are required, authors respond point by point.
On acceptance the article processing charge is invoiced and the CC BY 4.0 copyright handover is signed.
The article is copyedited, typeset, and given a DOI, then publishes open access with a permanent link.
Manuscripts are submitted through the Oak submission portal by one of the authors. Submissions made on an author's behalf by a third party are not accepted.
There is no submission fee. An article processing charge falls due only if your manuscript is accepted.
Journal of Immune Based Therapies, Vaccines and Antimicrobials considers the following. Page counts are guides, not hard limits — a well-argued paper that runs longer will not be rejected on length alone.
Manuscripts must be written in English, be original, and not be under consideration elsewhere.
Order the manuscript: title, authors, affiliations, abstract, and keywords on a title page, followed by the introduction, the body of the paper, the reference list, and any appendices.
Everything a reader has to read must be legible at print size, and everything an editor has to typeset must be editable.
Oak journals use a numbered (Vancouver) style. Cite sources in square brackets in the order they first appear in the text, and list them in that same order under REFERENCES.
Every reference must be complete enough for a reader to retrieve the source. Include a DOI where one exists.
Manuscripts that do not follow these guidelines are returned to the author without scientific evaluation. Those that do are read by the Editor-in-Chief or a handling editor, who assigns them to reviewers.
At least two independent experts assess every manuscript that goes to review. Review is single-blind: reviewers see who the authors are, authors do not see who the reviewers are.
The handling editor weighs the reports into a decision and writes to the corresponding author. Where revision is invited, respond to each point in turn and mark the changes in the manuscript.
Across Oak journals the median time to first decision is 18 days, and the median time from acceptance to publication is 20 days.
Journal of Immune Based Therapies, Vaccines and Antimicrobials charges an article processing charge of $499, payable only on acceptance. There is no submission fee, and nothing is charged for a manuscript that is rejected.
The charge covers review administration, editing, typesetting, hosting, and permanent open access. Reviewers and handling editors are never told an author's payment status.
Authors retain copyright in their work. Oak never takes ownership of it.
Every article is published open access under the Creative Commons Attribution licence (CC BY 4.0). Anyone may copy, redistribute, adapt, and build on the work, including commercially, provided the original is properly attributed.
Descriptive names, trade names, and trademarks used in an article are not implied to be unprotected by the relevant laws merely because they appear without acknowledgement.
Oak follows the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidance on suspected misconduct, and treats breaches seriously regardless of who reports them or how far through publication the work has travelled.
JIBTVA publishes work that runs from immunological mechanism through to clinical evidence. What follows applies to whichever stage your manuscript reports.
