Open Journal of Civil Engineering (OJCE) is an international journal dedicated to the latest advancements in civil engineering. The goal of this journal is to provide a platform for scientists and academicians all over the world to promote, share, and discuss various new issues and developments in different areas of c…
Ahmed Gamal, Adel ElSafty, Gerald Merckel
Monitoring of structures is an important challenge faced by researchers worldwide. This study developed a new structural health monitoring system which utilized the use of microprocessors, wireless communication, transducer, and cellular transmission that all…
Yeol Choi, Jae-Hyuk Choi
This paper describes the effects of high temperatures on the strength characteristic of crushed limestone sand concrete (CLSC). To compare, natural (river) sand concrete (NSC) and CLSC specimens were exposed to the three different high temperatures. Visual co…

Mortars have been prepared from six cement Jordanian brands and tested for their compressive strengths at 2, 7 and 28 days. The strength has been related to some physical parameters. It has been concluded that the compressive strength and its development with…
Hamadallah Al-Baijat, Andrea Benedetti
This res earch is conducted to study the experimental behavior of composite steel-concrete columns with basalt additives. Various percentages of basalt are added to the concrete mixes to investigate its effect on the total axial compressive capacity of the co…
Mauro Sassu, Marco Andreini, Anna De Falco, Linda Giresini
Innovative solutions of joints for bamboo trusses are presented. Experimental tests show the performances and the high level of ductility of the proposed technique, joined with simplicity in the concept of the joints, low level of technology and low cost of a…
Sudipta Majumdar, Manas Sarkar, Trinath Chowdhury, Brajadulal Chattopadhyay, Saroj Mandal
Concrete, widely used construction material suffers from cracks and low tensile strength that cut down the load capacity resulting in shortening of self-life. Biologically modified construction materials become more popular for higher strength and long-term s…
Min Geng, Yuanming Dou
This paper reveals and analyses various influence factors which cause differential settlement of high embankment in mountain area using indoor consolidation test and field loading test. In this research, the actual stress characteristics of high embankment ar…

The effects of ground subsidence and piled spacing on axial force of piles in squared piled rafts were investigated using numerical analysis. Two cases of piled rafts in soft clay including case 1 (s = 2d) and case 2 (s = 4d) with s and d were piled spacing a…
Rongshuai Li, Akira Mita, Jin Zhou
The feasibility of a parameter identification method based on symbolic time series analysis (STSA) and the adaptive immune clonal selection algorithm (AICSA) is studied. Data symbolization by using STSA alleviates the effects of harmful noise in raw accelerat…
Zeineddine Boudaoud, Miloud Beddar
This experimental work investigates the impact of substituting part of the conventional aggregates with rubber aggregates on certain characteristics of the cement concretes. This incorporation of rubber aggregates resulting from cutting worn tires in practica…
