Open Journal of Statistics (OJS) is an international journal dedicated to the latest advancements in statistics. The goal of this journal is to provide a platform for scientists and academicians all over the world to promote, share, and discuss various new issues and developments in different areas of statistics. All…

In a typical Kenyan HIV clinical setting, there is a likelihood of registering many zeros during the routine monthly data collection of new HIV infections among HIV exposed infants (HEI). This is attributed to the implementation of the prevention of mother to…

Penalized spline has been a popular method for estimating an unknown function in the non - parametric regression due to their use of low-rank spline bases, which make computations tractable. However its performance is poor when estimating functions that are r…

In this paper we aim to analyse temporal variation of CD4 cell counts for HIV-infected individuals under antiretroviral therapy by using statistical methods. This is achieved by resorting to recursive binary regression tree approach [1] [2] . This approach ha…

This paper mainly addresses maximum likelihood estimation for a response-selective stratified sampling scheme, the basic stratified sampling (BSS), in which the maximum subsample size in each stratum is fixed. We derived the complete-data likelihood for BSS,…

Symmetry of the underlying probability density plays an important role in statistical inference, since the sampling distribution of the sample mean for a given sample size is more likely to be approximately normal for a symmetric distribution than for an asym…

A crowdsourcing experiment in which viewers (the “crowd”) of a British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) television show submitted estimates of the number of coins in a tumbler was shown in an antecedent paper (Part 1) to follow a log-normal distribution ∧ ( m ,…

This paper studies the re-adjusted cross-validation method and a semi parametric regression model called the varying index coefficient model. We use the profile spline modal estimator method to estimate the coefficients of the parameter part of the Varying In…
Qi Yang, Yishu Wang
This study firstly improved the Generalized Autoregressive Conditional He teroskedast model for the issue that financial product sales data have singular information when applying this model, and the improved outlier detection method was used to detect the lo…

Background : Repeatability is a statement on the magnitude of measurement error. When biomarkers are used for disease diagnoses, they should be measured accurately. Objectives : We derive an index of repeatability based on the ratio of two variance components…

A composite random variable is a product (or sum of products) of statistically distributed quantities. Such a variable can represent the solution to a multi-factor quantitative problem submitted to a large, diverse, independent, anonymous group of non-expert…

All… All articles are open access under a CC BY 4.0 licence, with authors retaining copyright.
Authors submit their manuscript, metadata, and declarations through the portal. There is no submission fee.
The editorial office screens the manuscript for scope, completeness, and formatting before assigning a handling editor.
At least two independent reviewers evaluate the manuscript under single-blind review. Where revisions are required, authors respond point by point.
On acceptance the article processing charge is invoiced and the CC BY 4.0 copyright handover is signed.
The article is copyedited, typeset, and given a DOI, then publishes open access with a permanent link.
Manuscripts must be original and not under consideration elsewhere. Submit in Microsoft Word or LaTeX with figures at 300 dpi minimum. Structure research articles as Abstract, Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, and References.
Use the journal's numbered (Vancouver) reference style. Cite sources consecutively in the order they appear, and ensure every reference is complete and retrievable.
