The two statistical principles of maximum entropy and maximum likelihood are investigated for the three-parameter kappa distribution. These two methods become equivalent in the discrete case with x, β>0 where 0<α=1/(2k+1)≤1, k=0,1,2…or the maximum entropy met…

Medical research data are often skewed and heteroscedastic. It has therefore become practice to log-transform data in regression analysis, in order to stabilize the variance. Regression analysis on log-transformed data estimates the relative effect, whereas i…

A simple statistical model is proposed regarding the estimation of one’s overall performance in an MCQ examination along with the calculation of probability of obtaining a certain percentage of marks in the same. Using the data obtained from the results of a…

Recently, businessmen as well as industrialists are very much concerned about the theory of firm in order to make correct decisions regarding what items, how much and how to produce them. All these decisions are directly related with the cost considerations a…

Because of thinking only the number of numbers but not fitting function, it would be adequate to take further afield when calculating group numbers with empirical formula. We have proved the three theorems based on studying the normal distribution, and then r…

The shortest width confidence interval (CI) for odds ratio (OR) in logistic regression is developed based on a theorem proved by Dahiya and Guttman (1982). When the variance of the logistic regression coefficient estimate is small, the shortest width CI is cl…
