Cellular radiosensitivity is directly correlated with the mechanism of DNA repair, in which p53 protein plays a major role. In this context, this study correlated cell death with p53 expression in lymphocytes irradiated in vitro with different doses of gammar…

Five novel cationic lipids, the polar head group of which was attached to the cholesterol backbone via a tertiary carbamate linker, were synthesized and their physicochemical properties were compared to their transfection efficiencies. Transfection activity o…

We have investigated the interactions between phospholipid monolayers and volatile anest-hatics. Two monolayers (dihexadecyl phosphate (DHP) and dipalmitoyl phosphatidyl choline (DPPC) and two anesthetics (halothane and enflurane) were used to observe these i…

I analyze the flow of time in this article, both in gross and in microscopic processes, with a well defined arrow of time, but as the amount of energy involved in the microscopic processes is so small, it is more difficult to argue that the entropy increases,…

Aliphatic homo-polypeptoids of NAla, NVal, NIle and NLeu both in the presence and absence of protecting groups adopt helical structures without hydrogen bonds with Φ, Ψ values of ~ 0, ± 90° with trans amide bonds. These structures are stabilized by carbonyl-c…

The use of appropriate level of theories for studying weak interactions such as stacking of aromatic molecules has been an important aspect, since the high level methods have limitations for application to large molecules. The differences in the stacking ener…

Forming and nanostructuring processes of TiN film by electric arc evaporation under the conditions of the reactive nitrogen gas deficit in the gas mixture (30%) have been investigated. The results of a technological experiment, electron microscopic examinatio…

An early event in the induction of apoptosis is cytochrome c (Cyt c) release from mitochondria. We investigated the involvement of mitochonrial permeability transition (MPT) and mitochondrial swelling in Cyt c release from mitochondria treated with alloxan an…

The key step in chlorophyll biosynthesis is photoreduction of its immediate precursor, protochlorophyllide. This reaction is catalyzed by a photoenzyme, protochlorophyllide oxidoreductase (POR) and consists in the attachment of two hydrogen atoms in positions…
