The objective of this paper is to design linear quadratic controllers for a system with an inverted pendulum on a mobile robot. To this goal, it has to be determined which control strategy delivers better performance with respect to pendulum’s angle and the r…

This paper presents a new approach to find an approximate solution for the nonlinear path planning problem. In this approach, first by defining a new formulation in the calculus of variations, an optimal control problem, equivalent to the original problem, is…
Shameka Dawson, Briana Lowe Wellman, Monica Anderson
Predicting the performance of intelligent multi-robot systems is advantageous because running physical experiments with teams of robots can be costly and time consuming. Controlling for every factor can be difficult in the presence of minor disparities (i.e.…

Aiming at the limitations of the existing knowledge representations in intelligent detection, a new method of Extension-based Knowledge Representation (EKR) was proposed. The definitions, grammar rules, and storage structure of EKR were presented. An Extensio…

In this paper, we propose a new approach for a class of optimal control problems governed by Volterra integral equations which is based on linear combination property of intervals. We convert the nonlinear terms in constraints of problem to the corresponding…

Model based control schemes use the inverse dynamics of the robot arm to produce the main torque component necessary for trajectory tracking. For model-based controller one is required to know the model parameters accurately. This is a very difficult task esp…

The performance of any fuzzy logic controller (FLC) is greatly dependent on its inference rules. In most cases, the closed-loop control performance and stability are enhanced if more rules are added to the rule base of the FLC. However, a large set of rules r…

Energy efficiency optimization techniques of electrical drive systems improve the overall efficiency and reduce the hardness of mechanical characteristics of the drive system. It is therefore important to reduce the slip of induction motor to maintain its sta…

This paper considers a material constrained component scheduling problem during the high speed surface mount manufacturing stage in printed circuit board (PCB) assembly, where each piece of board contains an even number of identical PCBs. To accomplish the pr…

Authors submit their manuscript, metadata, and declarations through the portal. There is no submission fee.
The editorial office screens the manuscript for scope, completeness, and formatting before assigning a handling editor.
At least two independent reviewers evaluate the manuscript under single-blind review. Where revisions are required, authors respond point by point.
On acceptance the article processing charge is invoiced and the CC BY 4.0 copyright handover is signed.
The article is copyedited, typeset, and given a DOI, then publishes open access with a permanent link.
Manuscripts must be original and not under consideration elsewhere. Submit in Microsoft Word or LaTeX with figures at 300 dpi minimum. Structure research articles as Abstract, Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, and References.
Use the journal's numbered (Vancouver) reference style. Cite sources consecutively in the order they appear, and ensure every reference is complete and retrievable.
